| How is Biodiesel different
than other alternative fuels? |
- Biodiesel is the only fuel that can be used
directly in all diesel engines with out any modification to the engine
- Biodiesel is a very specific
compound that is
produced and tested under strict standards, ensuring a quality,
reliable, and trouble free product.
- Biodiesel is 100% environmentally friendly, and
non toxic.
- Biodiesel reduces many emissions, some by 100%.
- Biodiesel burns clean in the engines, and is a
100% sustainable product.
|
| What exactly is biodiesel? |
Biodiesel is made by
breaking apart the vegetable oil triglyceride molecule, and recombining the ester chain
with methanol, creating clean burning methyl ester molecules. |
| If I produce biodiesel
fuel can I get the $1.00 per gallon tax incentive? |
Yes. However the fuel must
be blended with petroleum diesel in order to qualify. In the B20 mix (20%
bio / 80% petro) blenders will get $0.20 per gallon of finished fuel. |
| Will I be able to make
money? |
Yes. But it takes some
careful planning and local market analysis. Generally, there are two
markets. Smaller operations located near feed stock sources, and larger
operations, generally located near large distribution hubs. |
| What about regulations,
permits, zoning, and other legal issues? |
The best location for
understanding and learning about these and many other facts is at the
National Biodiesel Board website:
www.nbb.org |
| How much land will I need
and what size of building? |
That depends upon the size
of the plant you intend to build, but generally a half acre or so for a
smaller unit. |
| Will I need rail access? |
If you intend to produce
more than 5 million gallons annually it might be a good. |
| Where can I get feed
stock? |
There are a number of
websites |
| Where can I get processing
chemicals? |
There are numerous
chemical supply houses on the internet |
| What exactly is waterless
wash and why is that better than using water to clean the fuel? |
Waterless wash is a
process that Greenline pioneered. Because our systems do not use any water
in the process, there is no contaminated waste water.
Waterless polishing of the fuel also has two other
positive rewards.
a) the fuel has a longer storage life, and
b) the fuel is not saturated with water (biodiesel will hold more water than
regular diesel.
Other systems that use a water wash cleaning process produce saturated fuel
that may have a higher cloud point causing filter blockage in cooler
climates. |
| What makes the Greenline Biodiesel
Processors so special? |
- We have the only waterless wash, continuous flow
system being manufactured today
- Our systems have ZERO toxic waste and no
contaminated waste water.
- Our systems are computer controlled and fully
automated.
- We guarantee ASTM fuel
|
| FFA and the process |
Our system is designed to
produce ASTM 6751 fuel, using feedstock with less than 5% FFA. Other
feedstock will require acid esterification. |
| How much will a system cost to
purchase? |
Depends upon size
and configuration, please contact Greenline Marketing |
| How much methanol is lost? |
We lose almost no methanol.
99% of free methanol from the fuel is recovered, all other systems are
closed, scavenged and condensed for reuse in the system. |
| What exactly does Greenline provide? |
Greenline provides a pipe to
pipe solution. All you need are storage tanks, a CDA source, and electrical
power. |
| How storage capacity will I need? |
Greenline recommends at least
one week, this largely depends upon the shipping and receiving intervals
within your area. |
| How will I test the fuel? |
Most of the testing of raw
materials and fuel product can be tested on site with a minimum amount of
equipment. For free and total Glyceride count, we recommend using a local
lab. (cost effective) |
| How long will it take to get the plant
up and running? |
That depends upon the size,
generally around 6 months. |
| How long has Greenline been in
business? |
Greenline and its core
engineering group have been working in the biodiesel industry for over 8
years. Greenline has over 10 plants in contract or operation across the U.S. |
| What will I need to provide? |
You must provide a suitable
site, electrical power, CDA, and storage tanks. |
| Is there a working plant that I can
visit? |
Yes. Qualified candidates who
are in the final stages of the purchase cycle are welcome to visit our state
of the art plant. It is a 3 million gallon plant, and is online and
producing fuel now. |
| Will Greenline train my workers to use
the system? |
Yes. All Greenline products
come with 5 days of training for up to 98 employees. |
| What kind of warranty is on the
equipment? |
All Greenline equipment is
warranted for 1 year parts and labor. |
| Can I process High FFA feedstock? |
Yes. Acid esterification must
be performed first. |
| What
can I expect after I sign a contract? |
A typical cycle
from sale to fuel production is as follows:
- Greenline will install
the plant at your site
- Greenline technicians
will make all the electrical and plumbing connections
- We stay onsite until the
processor is producing ASTM specification fuel*
- Greenline will train up
to 8 of your operators
*
Arrangements can be made to
retain Greenline technicians during a transitional period after the plant is
producing fuel |
